Shoreditch is the London neighbourhood with many faces. These days, the area has a smarter feel to it, still retaining that plucky personality, but with a slicker edge. The bedrooms are pockets of tranquillity, each filled with creamy carpets, fluttery ivory curtains and pearly vases with branches of eucalyptus. Rooms range from a pocket-sized studio space, with either a balcony or oriel windows looking out over the high street, to a much-large studio suite, with a living room and a terrace with views across East London. Each room is adorned with artwork created and designed by Strauss, including a hand-printed and paint-finished canvas and a floor-to-ceiling tapestry.

Arriving at One Hundred Shoreditch on a sunny Friday afternoon, there was already a buzz about the place as the hotel geared up for the weekend. In a prime position on Shoreditch High Street and a short walk from both Liverpool Street and Old Street areas, you really are in the heart of east London. Staff are friendly, welcoming and really know their stuff.
