Overwatch flex support
Team Roles are the roles each player plays in a team. They are separate from the categories that Heroes are split into in-game.
The common trait shared by main healers is that they are very good at keeping their teammates — and themselves — alive during a team fight. As such, they should be primarily focused on healing and only doing damage when a good opportunity arises. With that out of the way, now we can talk about the role each flex healer fulfills and how they can be a viable pick for their team…. Instead, the staff returns to a static healing rate, with Mercy providing 55 healing per second. It can save your DPS or your 2nd support player in a pinch, but realistically, healing is not your primary job. It can also make a fully-charged Hanzo body shot do damage and a fully-charged Widowmaker body shot do damage. At that point, if your other teammates are competent, that might as well be a secured elimination.

Since i dont play ranked, and i dont really follow OWL, i have only heard of these terms here and there but i still dont exactly know what they mean. The hybrid, in my opinion, is Lucio. Considering his AoE healing being passive, he can just burst damage while healing as opposed to the others who have to actively heal or shoot to do so. They are not defined by specific heroes, but how the combination of heroes in the team comp works to enable the team. Regardless of the perceived role or hero played, anyone in the support role should focus on making decisions that can enable to their team members, which more often than not, is not necessarily just healing them. Not trying to be toxic but these forums already lack education about this topic and this further spreads misinformation, and OP is clearly already confused. I mean it can change my view as well. You almost always want to pair a main support with a flex support. The main support peels for the flex support ex. Main supports also focus on buffing allies in addition to their peel. Stuff like damage boost, rez, speed boost, armor packs, rally, etc. They tend to be self-reliant and can stay alive on their own without needing much peel. Flex supports tend to focus on debuffing enemies anti nade, discord orb or applying their own damage pressure Bap damage, Zen damage. They also focus on providing healing to the team, especially the tanks. Off healer on ladder usually is just the person who heals less and has a defensive ult.

These terms are often only used in high levels of organized play, which is why only experienced players or fans of pro leagues may have heard or used them before. Some former flex support players have become off support players and excelled on heroes like Zenyatta, who can almost function as a damage hero if played in a certain style. Ultimately, in both professional play and ranked play, people will play what works best for them. Especially moving into the Overwatch 2 era, the lines between main and off support are more blurred than ever, and soon the difference might not matter at all. Here is the difference between the main and off support roles, and what heroes generally fit into each role.
After building up its DPS line over the offseason, the Houston Outlaws are finally calling in for more support. While there were a few meme-related missteps along the way, Lastro was one of the more successful flex supports in the league that year. Let's announce a signing today, eh? Show our newest Outlaw some love, OutlawsNation! The team still likely needs a second tank and an extra support to fully fill out its roster for next year.

Heroes are categorized in different roles in Overwatch. Roles describe the general characteristics of the hero and their purpose in the team. Each role has a role passive, which applies to all heroes that belong to it. In Role Queue , there are also limits to how many heroes of each role are in the team. Tank heroes soak up damage, create space for your team, and break apart fortified positions, like closely-grouped enemies and narrow choke-points. This leaves the door open for his teammates to pick off distracted enemies and for Roadhog himself to single out enemies with his Chain Hook. While he excels at staying alive, his lack of ability to actively protect his teammates tends to cast Roadhog as a secondary tank, preferably while his team is attacking an objective rather than defending.

Using Inspire, an AOE ability, effectively is almost more important than using her packs correctly. I could have worded my reply more kindly but I disliked how their reply was the first on the thread and so would be seen the most, thus spreading misinformation to everyone who is already uneducated about this topic on here I see people not understand these terms every day. This can be huge, instantly removing a player from the fight while also triggering the Inspire healing on all nearby teammates. Main Support is not the same thing as Main Healer and Flex Support is not the same thing as off support. The definition of these two roles has changed over time, and is hard to define indefinitely. Inspire is incredibly powerful: every time Brigitte hits an enemy with her flail, she and her allies are healed for 15 health per second for 6 seconds. There are a lot of people messing this up even on this post. Moira is considered an off support because she also has incredible damage potential, especially at long-range. Scott Duwe Scott Duwe and others Feb 23, For example, some double-off support compositions, like Baptiste with Zenyatta, see the Baptiste player adapting to filling a main support mentality. Whenever the discussion is raised on the best or greatest of all time, there are two common grievances shared in comment sections. Taking those into account, I sliced differently here.

Bap is flexible and can be paired with Zen. It can also make a fully-charged Hanzo body shot do damage and a fully-charged Widowmaker body shot do damage. Depending on the composition, the Main Support could play characters such as Mercy , Lucio , Brigitte , and even Baptiste. Support [ edit ] The Support role is played by people playing characters that can heal other players or support them in other ways. They are also useful for peeling for their team, or helping a teammate who is under pressure, with their abilities. While the meta for a few years has revolved around a main support paired with an off support, things are constantly changing and evolving in professional play, and these roles can become more or less relevant at any time. The common trait shared by main healers is that they are very good at keeping their teammates — and themselves — alive during a team fight.
