Driving the other day my check engine light came on with the warning listed above. It was not the first time ,the first time I was told there was dust or dirt in there and they cleaned it out and was ok. I brought it in and they ran an emissions test ,it passed so it is not covered by warranty , They got error codes p,p and p , they diagnosed it as occasional faulting canister purge valve. They recommend a replacement purge valve I have already paid I need someone to tell me if this sounds valid? Any and all feedback will help greatly. If they got error codes, it did NOT pass emissions. No emissions standard passes a car with the CEL on. The purge valve is emissions-related and should be covered. The injector flush is probably not needed. To get it fixed under warranty, you need to take it in when the CEL is ON…Does your car have a gas cap or do you just stick the nozzle in a fueling port? That port must close and seal perfectly when you remove the refueling nozzle.

The EVAP system communicates with the PCM and when there is a vacuum leak in the system, there are one of three codes that can be triggered: P , P , or P depending on the severity of the leak. With a P code, the first step is to get it properly diagnosed to figure out what is causing the malfunction related to the EVAP system. Using the live data function of the FIXD sensor and app allows you to read and analyze engine data to properly diagnose a P code. Many, if not most, shops will apply this diagnosis fee to any required repairs if you have them perform the repairs for you. From there, a shop will be able to give you an accurate estimate for repairs to fix your P code. When it comes to making repairs associated with the P code, one or more of the below repairs may be needed to solve the underlying issue. For each possible repair, the estimated cost of repair includes the cost of the relevant parts and the cost of labor required to make the repair. Complete diagnosis may require some specialized equipment beyond what the FIXD Sensor can provide, but for the most part, this diagnosis and repair can be attempted by beginner DIYers. Scan your vehicle to verify P is the only code present.

Specifically, it signifies that there is a large leak detected in the system, usually due to a loose or damaged fuel cap, or a problem with the EVAP system's components. One of the most effective ways to diagnose and repair the P code is by using an automotive smoke machine. This automotive diagnostic tool is designed to find leaks in any closed system, including the EVAP system, air intake system, exhaust system, and turbo. By injecting smoke into the EVAP system, you can easily locate any leaks and repair them, ensuring that your vehicle is running efficiently and reducing harmful emissions.
