First introduced in , this series of polymer- framed, striker-fired 9mm semi-autos now includes the VP9 Tactical with a threaded barrel, the long-slide VP9L and the subcompact VP9SK. Carrying different-sized pistols of the same basic design with identical controls and sights eliminates the need for re-familiarization when the change from winter to summer clothing suggests a downsized pistol for better concealment. The same logic applies to backup pistols. Comparing its dimensions to the Glock 26 show that it is slightly longer, taller and heavier than the latter with the same barrel lengths and magazine capacities. But the VP9SK has a single-action-like trigger, which means the fully cocked striker only moves forward when released by the trigger sear. The VP9SK also has a pivoting trigger tab that prevents the trigger from moving rearward unless depressed. This tab is a drop safety that supplements the firing pin safety, which captures the striker until the trigger is depressed. The trigger tab and firing pin safety allow a round to be safely carried in the chamber.

I have only owned striker fired handguns but am intrigued by hammer fired as I like to carry AIWB and do see the slight safety benefits of such. What would you recommend and why? The psk has my attention because it has that utilitarian rugged design to it, nothing fancy. Also I would love to attach a light to one as well as this will serve as a home defense option as well. Glock 42 Review. LA, USA. For those that have one of these already, how has it been for you and how does it match up against other compact and cub-compact 9mm pistols you have owned and carried prior to getting the HK? If you have a good technique, that will not be an issue but it is something to take into account. The HK P30 is hammer-fired while the VP9 is striker-fired, but the differences go much deeper than that. That said, these HKs are very reliable pistols.
Subcompact pistols have been in high demand since states started issuing concealed carry permits, and over the last two decades the number of compact handguns on the market has increased dramatically.

Any suggestions on a replacement site to use on the non NS model? Pricing from Cross Creek is obviously similar and I would think the VP9 would be in stock soon so that isn't a real issue either. It is a somewhat elegant firearm or it is on its way to being elegant, but it seems to fall a little bit short. IN, USA. And recall the VP9 was substantially cheaper than the p30 for a while. In most instances it's a higher quality gun.
