The newest alfresco addition to the already pumping South Terrace strip in South Fremantle comes with a side-serve of Government support. Patisserie La Vespa this week became the first business to receive a rebate for money spent on new chairs and an expanded alfresco area. Local Government Minister John Carey dropped by Patisserie La Vespa Wednesday morning to share the good news with staff at the venue as popular for its tasty pastries as it is with the morning coffee, pet-walking set. He said he hoped the scheme would not just continue to help small businesses but encourage people to feel safer by dining out outside, especially in a time of relaxed restrictions. Not that people need much encouragement to visit South Terrace, which boasts a host of small bars, dog-friendly cafes and quirky shops. As well as the old faithful hangouts along the strip, new bar Wild in the Street opened last month and has reportedly been a welcome addition by locals.
