Their buns are still as soft and pillowy as I remembered, giving a nice chewy texture in contrast to the firm and flavourful dory fish.

Outfitted with green tables and chairs, counter-top seats and tiled walls, the eatery has a very industrial feel to it. The seats towards the back are graced with floor-to-ceiling windows, bringing in tons of natural sunlight with a view overlooking the shophouses below. The only difference is the slight increase in prices and the addition of an all-new dessert selection — all made in-house! Sandwiched between two soft, pillowy buns is a decent-sized beef patty with fresh crisp lettuce, pickles, cheese and homemade tomato sauce. The patty was well-seasoned and balanced out by a myriad of salty and tangy flavours. What pleasantly surprised me were the hand-cut fries. The Crispy Pork Belly is a stellar burger that you should definitely try. This beautiful mini-tower is packed with thick cuts of meat with generous drizzles of hoisin sauce and English mustard, and cucumber slices. It reminded me of the pork belly served in expensive Chinese restaurants; the quality was certainly of that level! A traditional Peranakan favourite with a little twist, the Ayam Buah Keluak comprises a minced chicken patty marinated with keluak nut, coated with rempah, and finished off with chap chye.
