This reminds me of kids who bolt air dams, side skirts and wings on their Honda Accord and then proclaim how much faster or better handling their rides are. The middle sheet went in whole and brought the skin to within 46" of the front. Do I really need underskinning? I am going to use the SS screws in case i ever need to remove it.

If your goal is more speed polishing the entire surface of each log would yield much greater benefits. This is normally quite simple to do at any metal working shop as they just throw the sheet into a guillotine.
