The Mario games usually revolve around the titular character, as well as Princess Peach, Bowser, and, perhaps, Luigi. But there is a litany of games under the Mario banner, and they can't all be carried by those four characters. This is why the likes of Yoshi and Toad are important to the series, too. The same can be said for Daisy. She is the Princess of another kingdom, who originally debuted in the game, Super Mario Land.

However, after an update that added an all-new mode to the game, Daisy was also added to the roster of characters that could be controlled by the player. What makes this even more surprising is Super Mario Run —a mobile game— is the first Mario platformer to feature Princess Daisy. Until then, she could only be used in mainly sports titles or party games. Thankfully, Daisy will be appearing in another platformer soon with the announced release of Super Mario Bros Wonder.
