The film is written by Haasan and Ratnam. Director Maniratnam's effort has to be appreciated. And if you're really a fan of PS book then I'd suggest you avoid watching it since it'll only blur your imagination of this story. The song with the music by the legendary A R Rahman and with the debutant lyricist Ilango Krishnan fitting in with some exemplary Tamil usage has already given music lovers an awe feeling. However, he's always in an armor. Vandiyathevan crosses the Chola land to deliver a message from the Crown Prince Aditha Karikalan, while Kundavai attempts to establish political peace as vassals and petty chieftains plot ag Mani Ratnam delivers a masterpiece yet again. So screenplay could have better to explain the main plot of the story.
