This psalm is simply titled A Psalm of David. There is such a marked change between the first half and the second half of this psalm that many suggest that it was two different psalms stitched together. When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. Yet it is a song of confidence and triumph: because David was not in darkness or ultimate peril because the LORD was his light and salvation.

Throughout my Christian walk, I have often read Psalm It has given me encouragement, but as I read this Psalm with fresh eyes, I realize it is deeper than you might think. Psalm 27 teaches us about courageous trust in the Lord.

The Lord is my light and my salvation;I will fear no one. The Lord protects me from all danger;I will never be afraid. When evil people attack me and try to kill me,they stumble and fall. We find it easy to trust in our wisdom, our experience, our friends, and our resources. You have been my helper; do not leave me or abandon me, God of my salvation. The plain path for which he asks is one, traveling along which there shall be no pitfalls or lurking places for these foes.
