A former product designer now crafts quilts using the design quilting digest she knows best—giving whole new meaning to moving rectangles in Figma. It wasthe pandemic had irrevocably changed the nature of work, and Nicole Boettcher was ready for a change. Having spent two-and-a-half years as a product designer at Artsy, quilting digest, an online marketplace for art, Nicole was eager to pick up quilting digest craft that would involve working with her hands. Teaching herself to quilt meant scouring the web for tutorials from other artists and trying her hand—literally—at beginner patterns.

In between quilting custom quilts, I try to always quilt a few allover type quilts. It is a nice break from the concentration it requires to get a custom quilt done. I love the creativity in custom quilting, but it can be mentally and physically exhausting. Doing a few allovers before starting my next custom job really helps to re-motivate and re-energize me. I had the pleasure to quilt a very inspirational quilt for Pam.
