This is one of those seater restaurants in San Pedro de Alcantara that seem to have been there forever, but it must be 15 or so years since we last dined there. It has remained unchanged for over a quarter of a century, with one exception - the food, the presentation, and the menu options, have improved to such an extent, that I can see El Patron, Antonio, and his wife, chef Rosario, successfully filling their restaurant for many more years to come. Ok the bolt upright seats do not encourage you to linger, but the flavoursome, wholesome dishes turned out from their small kitchen keep the punters coming back for more. No fewer than 40 fish dishes from 18 species dominate the menu, with a 3 dish concession to the carnivores. Starters are of the salad, soup, or omelet variety. Desserts, apart from 3 in house, are lots of frozen picture thingies.

Along with a restored adobe residence from the mid 's furnished with period pieces, the area also contains the archaeological evidence of the Mission Dolores Outpost. The site now stands as a reminder of the more spacious and leisurely life of the past. Earlier, the Franciscan padres from Mission Dolores had built a farm outpost here at the Ohlone Village called Pruristac. For a time, the irrigated fields and grazing lands provided much of the food for the San Francisco mission. The padres originally intended to draw on the coastside Indian population for continued missionary work, but Indian removal to San Francisco and introduction of European diseases contributed to the decline of the natives and probably an epidemic forced the abandonment of the outpost about In subsequent years, the owners of the Adobe used it for a residence, roadhouse and artichoke packing shed. Eventually it fell into disrepair until it was purchased by the County of San Mateo and funds were allocated for restoration. Demonstrations such as brick making and corn grinding are scheduled.

What about the food, everything was super delicious. But eating seafood with the sound of the waves is special. Slide 1 of 3. Map layers. Fish soup wasn't bad, but overpriced.. We found the staff a little rude and unhelpful they were clearing tables despite having plenty available and ignoring clients who were desperate to get a last drink or food before the sun went down! Planning a trip to San Pedro de Alcantara? We went on a Tuesday night in January and the place was packed, I think you would need to book in advance as they do not have alot of tables and they were turning people away every few minutes! Lovely food, friendly staff, what more could you want? Will call again when in the area. Ok the bolt upright seats do not encourage you to linger, but the flavoursome, wholesome dishes turned out from their small kitchen keep the punters coming back for more. They also never mentioned when we came that the kitchen closes at 5. The best dish, and something different, is the toast with red tuna and black truffle slices, delicious. A little overpriced and service not really that attentive. Special mention to the desert chocolate lava cake. Well prepared food served in good time by very pleasant staff. Friendly and quick Staff. Beautiful presentation yet simple. Best family owned restaurant in San Pedro de Alcantara!
