Resident Evil is enjoying an era of success that began around the time of the middle of the previous console generation's cycle and into the present landscape. After weathering a rockier period from around , specifically when RE5 and RE6 were released and received a less-than-warm welcome due to many fans' displeasure with their deviations from the series' survival horror core into more bombastic action territory, developer Capcom turned things around for Resident Evil with the reboot of the franchise in 's Resident Evil 7. This was followed two years later by the remake of RE2 , widely considered one of the best remakes in the industry to date, and setting the stage for RE 's triumphant return. With 's Resident Evil 4 remake becoming the fastest selling RE release , it's pretty much a guarantee that RE5 will be getting the remake treatment eventually, and possible sooner rather than later, according to some reports. Fans are also awaiting news about the next mainline entry, presumably Resident Evil 9 , assuming Capcom's pattern of alternating releases between new titles and the numbered remakes holds firm. Though nothing has been officially announced at the time of writing, recent leaks point to there being multiple Resident Evil games currently in the works at Capcom, with the RE5 Remake widely assumed to be among them.

Right now, the Resident Evil series has never been hotter and a large part of that has been down to the fantastic remakes that Capcom has been bringing into the world of survival horror. The Resident Evil remakes began back in with the fantastic remake of the original game for the Nintendo GameCube which to me is still the best remake in the series yet. The next stage, at least chronologically for the mainline series after Resident Evil 3 , would have been Resident Evil Code: Veronica , a remake that fans are desperate to see. At this time, Capcom hasn't announced anything for or but that might be about to change soon. From what I remember at its launch in , despite selling very well, Resident Evil 5 received some bad rep for not being a survival horror game as it was very much an extension following the success of the original Resident Evil 4. However, while Resident Evil 4 still had some elements of horror but mostly action , Resident Evil 5 was very much an action game with a few hints of horror thrown in on sparse occasions. Resident Evil 5 was also a fantastic co-op game and arguably had my favourite version of the Mercenaries mini-game. Resident Evil 5 is a fun action game but not a good survival horror game, as much as I still love it today. So with rumours and the likelihood that it will one day receive the remake treatment from Capcom is an interesting choice. Will Capcom follow the previous formula and stick with action or will they flip the original concept and favour something more akin to survival horror? Only time will tell.
It will be CV. Resident Evil 5 is a fun action game but not a good survival horror game, as much as I still love it today, re5 remake.
Capcom has been blasting through its Resident Evil gameography, delivering remakes that are arguably just as classic as the source material, and the company says more are on the way. Capcom has so far been going through the series numbered entries in chronological order, meaning the sometimes divisive Resident Evil 5 could be next in line. However, the original's depiction of non-infected African people has been widely criticized, with many speculating that it's unlikely the game will ever be officially revisited. The very first Resident Evil is also a possible pick, although it was already remade in A remake of a remake, then. Whatever the next project is, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi hints that the RE Engine will continue to be used. Developer Capcom has been enjoying something of a renaissance with the Resident Evil franchise over the last several years. Not only have the new mainline games been successful, but remakes of fan-favorite games like last year's Resident Evil 4 have been flying off the shelves. Last month, rumors started to circulate that Capcom has five Resident Evil games in the works. Thus far, the only thing that's been named is the upcoming Resident Evil 9 , but a new rumor claims that the next remake might be Resident Evil 5 , an announcement that's likely to leave some fans frustrated. The reason the account believes something is happening with Resident Evil 5 has to do with a recent backend Steam update for Resident Evil 4 Remake Gold Edition. Two days before that version was released, there was a backend update for a Resident Evil 5 package that removed the RE 5 name, release date, and base game from the package. It's been three years since that was updated, which is why many believe this is hinting at an upcoming remake. Obviously, you'll want to take this with a massive grain of salt.

Read on to find out our theories for the next Resident Evil remake. Although both games, RE5R and RE9, surely have different development teams, Capcom will most likely try to space their releases apart a year or two, as they have done so in the past with the back-to-back RE2 and RE3 remakes. If history is to be repeated, then RE9 might come out in , completing the cycle of four year gaps. As such, RE5R will also be adjusted further back to accommodate the spacing. Capcom could also very well be in a pattern of releasing a numbered title RE7 , and then releasing two classic remakes RE2 , RE3 It seems to flow rather well, with RE8 that released in and with RE4R that released two years later in If that will be the case, then RE fans will have much to worry about the state of RE5R if Capcom were to proceed to treat it similarly to RE3R, bringing about substantial changes and a very short playtime which disappointed fans. Regardless of which one eventually comes out first, the release of RE9 and RE5 Remake would make the perfect pairing, as both games will heavily feature Chris Redfield as a protagonist.
