Restaurante gran tarajal
This family restaurant had a nice staff.
We stopped off at this restaurant on the way up to Teide, it is a mile uphill past La Orotava. For the price we didn't have high Spinach croquetas and grilled goat's cheese for starter, we both had the fish-of-the-day for main, served with a large salad and 'papas', and chocolate mousse for dinner. Very drinkable house red, and a an alcohol free beer. Lovely service. Felt like daylight robbery when the bill came, so impressed, make sure you stop by if heading past around mealtimes.

Great spot! Make sure to save room for desert! Great options and safe, local spot limited English but sooooo worth it! We had a multi course meal for 5, everything was perfect, bread was some of the best in a long time with an garlic butter spread, chicken with fries, steak with fries, sausage plate, veg plates, coleslaw, potato plate reminds me of home fries chicken and pork plate, 3 options for desert. And 6 GF beers to choose from! Make this a stop! Everything here is GF, even the beer. It's good to feel safe in a restaurant not trying to avoid wheat. The food all tested safe with the Nima we got the ribs and chicken and a dessert dish. The portions were huge but overall was solid food. Very local and a little out of the way, definitely not a tourist destination. Also they had an official certification stating that everything was gluten free and celiac safe which was great! Service was great, we ordered way to much of the typical spanish Food the menu for two would have been enough, they also offer frozen takeout.

Gran Tarajal is the second most important residential town in Fuerteventura after Puerto del Rosario and it is located on the east coast, in the municipality of Tuineje. As we mentioned, Gran Tarajal is mostly a residential town, which is also popular with expats and long-term visitors to the island, who usually come to Fuerteventura to spend the winter, so they stay for a few months at a time. Although it's true that most first-time visitors to Fuerteventura don't usually come to Gran Tarajal, the town is a great place for a day trip if you want to go escape the tourist resorts like Corralejo or Caleta de Fuste and explore a place with a local feel and authentic bars and restaurants.
