Based on our record, RetroArch should be more popular than EmulationStation.
On most sites, RetroArch is the ultimate all-in-one PC retro emulator, but i found other similar emulators, which is the best among the 5 emulators. Don't know much about the others, though. They are based off the same "library", emulation station, they use the exact same cores to emulate if I'm not mistaken. I've played with mostly with Retropie, though I've toyed with Lakka and Retroarch. It supports PC raspberry pi, etc. Retroarch is sorta like a more complex Lakka from the little I've played with it.

User selects either Emulationstation or RetroArch because they want to stick to that one solution not randomly jump from one to another. RetroArch seems more versatile and user friendly for kids. When selecting Boot the RetroArch we do not want to see the Emulationstation at all. With current jumping from one GUI to another users get confused and quickly abandon this solution. It appears to bring with it: RetroArch and EmulationStation. Both of which are front-ends to certain emulators. EmulationStation appears to look exactly like the install of RetroPie but with better display information about each game.

I think the bit that you are missing is that you could do that, but if you then gave a copy of your system to me, and I plugged in my weird-ass controller that you've never seen, it wouldn't work, as none of the emulators would recognise my controller, it would only work for your specific setup. I guess it could be considered a bug in both cases, but if it also happens with Start At Boot set to RetroArch I would consider it more severe.
