Named after Bert Tarpley, one of the earliest Pacer members and former club President, this event is very much part of the local race calendar. The course passes through beautiful countryside and is run along gently undulating country lanes. This event is saint edmund pacers over two distances, saint edmund pacers, 10 miles and 20 miles, and the latter fits perfectly into the training calendar for a spring Marathon. Each junction is marshaled and the course is well signed.

The Bury St Edmund-based Pacers were trailing by almost three minutes after the first two legs of this five-stage relay. Each leg was 5km, starting and finishing from Mutford Village Hall. But the Pacers had saved their big guns for the final three legs, eventually recording an overall time of 1hr 28mins 35secs to win by 36 seconds from fellow Bury club West Suffolk AC. There will be three water stations on the 10 mile course and five on the 20 in addition to water being available at the Finish. We will provide appropriate medical support should it be required.
