The Saw storyline is an intricate web of continuity, with the complete timeline spanning over nine films. Thus, Jigsaw appears in films that take place chronologically after his death, which happens in Saw III. Likewise, his wife dies early on in the series, but she appears in flashbacks throughout the series.
