The reviewer is giving his honest experience with the product and was not paid to write a favorable article. The gear was purchased due to interest and enjoyment in quality of sound. The Sennheiser HD is a headphone that has been in my memory ever since I started reading about HiFi, however, at the time, neutral meant bright or maybe even flat and nonmusical to me. I have sensitivity to treble and spent a lot of time with the HD trying to find an ideal setup with a slightly warm yet detailed signature instead. The Sennheiser HD is considered by many to be a headphone that is for audio purists. If you prefer a more life-like presentation, there are more deeply resolving and layered, highly analytical, yet also fun headphones like the HEse , but the Sennheiser HD stands as a great and highly musical headphone, if you don't mind the more faithful presentation. I can use the HD when experimenting with different components in my chain; it helps me discern different characteristics in my chain and how they sound while still being really enjoyable.

Sennheiser HD Thankfully, the HD s aren't the only model in Sennheiser's high-end audiophile line. The Sennheiser HD s can be bought at a 40 percent discount to their big brother. Yes, you'll be substituting a grey and black plastic finish for the s' fancy titanium metallic housing, but you'll still be getting a high-end pair of open-air headphones while saving enough money to buy a really nice bottle of vintage wine to sip as you listen to your music of choice. If you're not familiar with the open-air design, they leave the outside of the ear cups open so that sound waves moving away from your ear can continue away unimpeded and cannot interfere in any way with the sound moving toward your ear. In the case of the Sennheiser HD s, there are pieces of black metal mesh on the outside of the ear cups to cover the drivers and protect them from accidental damage. Speaking of those drivers, Sennheiser is happy to point out that the HD s use computer-optimized neodymium magnet systems, which is supposed to minimize distortion, to drive lightweight aluminum voice coils. Sennheiser also includes a phono adapter for the larger headphone jacks that snap securely over the smaller headphone plug. Both the earpads and cable are user-replaceable--though Sennheiser is, of course, your only choice when doing so.
Enclosure Open-Back. The treble becomes slightly accentuated as well. It is not sibilant.

They are probably the most famous headphones released in the past 20 years. Some will find their appearance dated and reminiscent of the nineties because of the blue « marble effect » covering the plastic, but I actually find them pretty.
The Sennheiser HD are good critical listening headphones not meant for other uses. They're decently comfortable and have an above-average build quality. They also have a well-balanced sound with an excellent mid-range and detailed instruments and vocals, but they lack a little low-end bass, which might not be ideal for everyone. They also don't isolate by design, so they won't be a good option to use outdoors. The Sennheiser HD are good for neutral listening and deliver a good, well-balanced frequency response.

Overall my favorite part of the headphone, and has made me a complete sucker for a good midrange. Overall detail : These headphones are very detailed, especially in the midrange and treble regions. All it does is muffle rear sounds and create a wider soundstage that is not usable with the Q because of its already large soundstage. The only part of the build I can really flaw is the pads, which tend to wear out very quickly and will likely need to be replaced once or twice a year depending on your usage. These headphones don't come with an app or software for added customization options. The sound stage expanded dramatically, note impact and fullness shot up, and I found these inexpensive used purported to be mid-fi headphones performing on par with MrSpeakers Ether playing out of a single ended amp. I am getting these. However, you will not need a high end amp or something that will set you back an arm and a leg—just a simple one will do. If you're a particularly persnickety listener though, you may want to step up and shell out the extra cash for Sennheiser's HD s. For purists and music lovers Pros : Natural sound quality Beatiful design old one Supremely conformatable Impove with higher equipment. Just very good in general, there's a reason you can find these in recording studios all around the world.

The overall treble level between 6KK sounds to me like is set 1dB-2dB lower than that of the HD , so it is quite a bit darker, and I can see how it could earn it the title of veiled. One I could take on and off a lot. It is engaging. Update Check out. Just remember to take the jumper off. On the other hand, the HD have a more open sound that most critical listeners will prefer. I purchased this sample new after I visited major labels around year and noticing this was a reference headphone they used. Although something that bothers me about Hifiman is they release a millions models with a million versions of each. Noise Cancelling Control No. After all you can read review of another, more accomplished reviewer that you feel more familiar with. I disagree with the lacking part.
