My almost 14 year old asked last night if we could watch some mystery movies. Also no gratuitous and super graphic violence, but some is okay. Lord Peter Whimsey is hysterical while he's solving crimes. My kids love ordering old Alfred Hitchcock movies. Poirot was a favorite here at that age. The shorter ones were less gory and all are minimally so, we just had a very very limited tolerance for scary stuff. Oh, you might try the Hardy Boys books. Though I think my kids preferred the books. The Hardy boys and Nancy drew series from the seventies! I think Colombo is not too bad. My kids have asked to watch Murder She Wrote because their great-grandpa watches it. It's hilarious and ridiculous but also fun to figure out the crimes.
