It makes moving between pistols more natural. The Mustang and the P are both compact, single stack,. Both are excellent choices, but which one is better? I picked up a Colt Mustang last year when Colt reissued the gun. It is a compact single action, made of aluminum and steel. The lines are clean. The weight is manageable, and it shoots better than any. For more than a year now, it has been my go to for in-waist-band carry. The fixed front sight of the Colt is low, and sufficient for concealed carry use. It also happens to be dead on accurate at 7 yards. The rear sight is blued steel, narrow and rounded over. No extra slide serrations. No heavy texture on the front strap or back strap. The magazine well is barely beveled, though the bullet sitting proud on the top of a single stack magazine makes reloads easy enough. The SIG is the same basic design, but with some heavy aesthetic modifications.
People complain about Glock triggers, but it's way better than the Sig's! A bit pricey, but a good little pocket gun. Let's take a look.
March 7, , AM Ballenxj. Got a call from a friend today that told me he had a new SIG P in. He used to own a now discontinued Colt Mustang, and he knows that I still do. He told me that the SIG P is basically a clone of the old time honored Mustang, knowing that I would take the bait and bring my Mustang over for comparison. I did. Here are the findings; They are both the same size.
It is modelled after the M , similar to the Colt Mustang. The P has an aluminium frame and a stainless steel slide with the exception of the HD model which is all stainless steel. However, all models currently produced have night sights standard. Starting in , many variants have an ambidextrous thumb safety standard or as an option. When introduced in , the P was available in a matte black finish and a two-tone finish with a matte silver colored slide and black frame. Since then, SIG Sauer has produced a number of variants including some short run commemorative editions. Among the variants are versions with various finishes, with a stainless steel frame and different grips and embellishments. Contents move to sidebar hide. Article Talk. Read Edit View history.

The size of the 42 completely works for me. They're lighter, double action and in a pocket holster invisible in shorts or pant pocket. The Mustang I use to own fit into a Desantis Superfly holster and disappear in my pocket. Some Micros have the ambidextrous safety, I would think it is a drop in part. We trudge on. Both are excellent choices, but which one is better? Both are equally reliable. Thinking about one for my daughter. All rights reserved. Forum Rules. I have owned a few Kahrs.
The new Colt.
Like most of the users of this forum, I am accustomed to buying any parts I want, locally, at gun shows, or online. They are fixed but of a size and shape that can be seen easily, mine are the sig tritium insert sights and they just plain work. W William P. Look your choices over handle them and if possinle rent them and shoot them a little, see what works for you. Now, you can own a semi-auto version of the famous MP5 Bruce Willis uses in the movie, at a fraction of the cost. I handled a bunch of p's while working at a gun shop years ago. Love that pistol, can't say enough good about it. Given the poor sights I was shocked at how well it shot and I never had a malfunction, despite firing the cheapest ammo I could for practice. It is a compact single action, made of aluminum and steel. On my pistol, the bottom of the rear cover plate has a bevel where it contacts the hammer, this side should be facing towards the rear.
