The SIIMA Awards has kick-started in Dubai, and the Kannada film audiences would have been eagerly looking forward for the second day of the event, which would honour the talents as well as the movies of Sandalwood that went on to etch a place in the minds of the audiences in the year The previous year witnessed the arrival of some big hits and critically appreciated Kannada movies and hence, the competition at the award circuits so far has been intense and interesting. It was Puneeth Raajkumar's blockbuster movie Raajakumara that bagged the maximum number of nominations with the film making an entry in 11 different categories. Similarly, Kannada movie Chamak, which was one of the most appreciated movies of , is closely behind, with the film bagging nearly 9 nominations.
