Well I thought it would be a nice Saturday. But nooooooo.
I miss my Slayer, most cool ninja class ever. Had some awesome stuff in the game… like the coronation ceremony when you became a God. And also Skyforge had the most awesome Winter Celebration event… actually being able to skate! I like Guild Wars 2. The story is solid, the races are interesting and the world is huge and beautiful. Also, I enjoy how alive most of the zones are. The world really feels like an MMO world, with dynamic events, quests and meta events.

Of the upcoming crop, there are some that I have some curiosity about, but only one that has properly intrigued me: Skyforge, a science fantasy free to play title due for release soonish. The previews for Skyforge are hitting a lot of the right notes for me — free to play from the start, action combat, gorgeous graphics, unique setting, multiclassing — but there are also some serious causes for concern that keep me from getting properly excited. Some zones in Skyforge are the sort of pastoral wildernesses you see in most MMOs, but others are grandiose sci-fi metropolises that look like something straight out of Star Wars. The concept of godhood is important in Skyforge. The main threat in the game comes in the form of invasions by evil gods seeking to claim the world as their own, and players take on the role of immortals who will eventually ascend to godhood. That brings me to what is currently the thing I find most compelling about Skyforge: its unusual progression model and potential for multi-classing. It sounds a bit like a combination of the systems in The Secret World and Rift. Skyforge does not have levels in the traditional sense, though it does have pseudo-levels like TSW, and you can unlock every class in the game on a single character, switching between them at will. The classes also seem more powerful, spectacular, and pleasantly over-the-top than their equivalents in other MMOs. In doing research for this post, I have also discovered that Skyforge will apparently lack the traditional holy trinity, which is also compelling. The main storyline then takes you from those less than humble beginnings to the moment you ascend to lesser godhood. You need to acquire enough power and faith for that to happen and, for that, you need followers. Followers appear as an NPC resource within Skyforge. Completing missions demonstrates your power and that attracts followers. You can recruit adepts, also NPCs, who you can order off on their own missions to find you followers, getting you ever closer to becoming a god.

Guild wars has lore, but its taking a back seat in comparison to Guild wars 1. It's not revolutionary. Skyforge reviews. It's easy! Load Comments. Especially when the outcome usually is dead builds. Lore really matters, and is prob why GW2 will never be as big as WoW a game can be a lot of fun and be very popular, but for it to really expand it needs to become cult fiction, and you need a story for that, a good one too, a deep and imaginative world with diversity and complexity GW2 doesn't have it, Wildstar doesn't have it SWTOR does though as does ESO, and Final fantasy does too, especially if 14 continues in the current setting. Each group of nodes has a skill node right in the middle of it. Which suggests that I was deluding myself for those few weeks I was playing it and having fun.
