Slade Wilson , known by his codename, Deathstroke , was an elite mercenary, commonly considered the world's greatest and deadliest assassin. When Slade was seventeen, [4] he joined the US Army and proved to be an exceptional soldier, earning decorations for valor in combat. During this period, he married fellow soldier Adeline Kane ; later, they would raise a son, Grant together. Slade also became acquainted with John Lynch , encountering him in Paraguay alongside Alexander Fairchild ; afterwards, both men owed Lynch a debt. Slade and Fairchild later did some mercenary work together, something they described as 'babysitting arms dealers', before both were selected for the covert-operations unit code-named Team 7. It's highly unlikely that without the creation of Deathstroke , there would be no Deadpool as the Marvel Comics character was originally inspired by his DC Comics counterpart.
