Squirrelstar is a dark ginger she-cat [1] with one white paw, [27] a squirrel-like, bushy tail, [12] and green eyes. Squirrelstar is the current leader of ThunderClan in the lake territories. She was born as Squirrelkit to Firestar and Sandstorm alongside Leafkit.

Squirrel flight

Flying squirrels scientifically known as Pteromyini or Petauristini are a tribe of 50 species of squirrels in the family Sciuridae. Despite their name, they are not in fact capable of full flight in the same way as birds or bats , but they are able to glide from one tree to another with the aid of a patagium , a furred skin membrane that stretches from wrist to ankle. Their long tails also provide stability as they glide. Flying squirrels are able to steer and exert control over their glide path with their limbs and tail. The genus Paracitellus is the earliest lineage to the flying squirrel dating back to the late Oligocene era. The young are born in a nest and are at first naked and helpless. They are cared for by their mother and by five weeks are able to practice gliding skills so that by ten weeks they are ready to leave the nest. Some captive-bred southern flying squirrels have become domesticated as small household pets, a type of " pocket pet ". Flying squirrels are not capable of flight like birds or bats ; instead, they glide between trees. They are capable of obtaining lift within the course of these flights, with flights recorded to 90 metres ft. There is a cartilage projection from the wrist that the squirrel holds upwards during a glide.

Squirrel flight

Squirrelflight's Hope is the twelfth Warriors Super Edition, taking place halfway between the end of the sixth arc, A Vision of Shadows , and the start of the seventh arc, The Broken Code. Three moons after the Clans shifted their borders to accommodate SkyClan at the end of The Raging Storm , they're changing their minds about the whole thing, much to Squirrelflight's displeasure. ThunderClan and ShadowClan aren't making use of the additional territory that WindClan and RiverClan gave them, and the other Clans are starting to want it back. At a meeting of the leaders and deputies, Squirrelflight comes up with an idea that might work for everyone: there's some territory farther away from the lake, roughly along ShadowClan and ThunderClan's boundary beyond the abandoned Twoleg nest; the Clans simply never had had the need to use it before. Leafstar isn't very warmed to the idea of SkyClan moving yet again , and Bramblestar is unhappy about Squirrelflight apparently undermining him by suggesting it They're at a rocky point in their relationship, especially after Squirrelflight tells him that she wants more kits and realizes that Bramblestar doesn't. Squirrelflight is certain that she's right, however, and decides to visit Leafstar and travel with her to the unused territory to explore it and see if it might be suitable for SkyClan. The territory looks good, and they even discover the site of an apparently abandoned camp that would be perfect This new group is a traveling band of big she-cats that call themselves "The Sisters.
