Peter Quill was conceived as a result of the love between the terran Meredith Quill, from Colorado, and the Spartax Emperor at the time, J'son. J'son left Earth soon after conceiving Peter in order to continue his intergalactic war, leaving Meredith on Earth in order to protect her. Nine months later, Peter was born. For ten years, Quill was raised by Meredith who remained a single mother but had help from her best friend Lisa Chang and her daughter Monica. Peter soon started developing a big interest in sci-fi shows and after a visit to an amusement park where he was impressed by the wonders of space, he decided he wanted to be an astronaut when he grew up. However, he was a little disappointed later when he found out the aliens on the ride weren't real. One day Peter returned home, bruised from trying to stop a bully. As he was washing up for dinner, his mother saw a bright light and two Badoon aliens emerged. Vowing to end the ' Spartax bloodline ', they killed Meredith. After Quill saw the aliens and his dead mother, he panicked and ran. As the aliens pursued, he grabbed a shotgun and managed to kill them with it.

He effortlessly took Mantis and Drax out of the fight with the Stone. Quill talked to Thor star-lord, who wanted to find Sif.

Marvel's main canon has not been very kind to Peter Quill and the other Guardians of the Galaxy. Not only did they lose their best friend Groot as he became a cosmic threat to the universe, but the team even ended up sacrificing themselves in an attempt to stop him with Star-Lord becoming a new version of Ego in the process. Now, somewhere in the multiverse, Star-Lord has officially lost his iconic title to the most unexpected hero. According to Comic Book Resources , the upcoming Howard the Duck 1 anthology will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the crude and comedic character with a variety of "What If" scenarios, including one where he becomes the newest leader of the Guardians. This story crafted by Merritt K and Will Robson will delve into the science fiction angle of Howard the Duck and give him a chance to prove himself as the ultimate galactic hero.

Peter Jason Quill [1] is a Celestial - Human hybrid who was abducted from Earth in by the Yondu Ravager Clan and raised as one of their members, eventually building a reputation as the notorious intergalactic outlaw Star-Lord. In , he decided to leave the Ravagers and operate individually, unintentionally becoming a key player in the quest for a precious artifact known as the Orb after stealing it from Morag. Following his arrest, he forged an uneasy alliance with fellow inmates Gamora , Drax the Destroyer , Rocket Raccoon , and Groot , who together formed the Guardians of the Galaxy. They first rallied as a team by stopping Ronan the Accuser from destroying Xandar with the Power Stone. However, after Rocket stole some of the batteries, Ayesha sent the Sovereign fleet after them.
