Stardew valley year 1 guide

The first year in Stardew Valley can be daunting for those taking on the game for the first time. The main struggle lies in the fact that the game shifts the choice of what to prioritize in a day and over a season on the player. Each day lasts 20 hours, and seasons change after 28 days meaning that there is a time crunch for those pursuing particular crops or quest lines. Understanding what to mark as goals in Stardew Valley 's first year can therefore be a struggle. The best way to break down this first year is by season and listing out a few goals players should achieve in each one. While this won't hit every important marker in each season, the following guide will give some highlights players should achieve on their way through the year. Players begin their journey in Stardew Valley in Spring, having just moved to their grandfather's farm. This season should be one in which players get acquainted with all of their neighbors, begin leveling up skills such as foraging and farming, and participate in the game's first festivals. This is the first festival of the year, and it takes place on the 13th day of every Spring. It is a great opportunity for players to greet most of the residents of Pelican Town as well as grab one of Stardew Valley 's most profitable crops this season, Strawberries. These can be purchased at the booth for gold per seed, and if planted the next day, they can be harvested twice before Summer.

If not, don't worry - you'll get enough copper ore soon enough.

Normally it is a period where you are free of the daily watering pressures, meaning you can do a lot more mining, fishing, and woodcutting. And making friends with villagers, including courting a potential spouse. It is a good time to bring tools to the Blacksmith for upgrading. Unfortunately - your income will drop, maybe a lot, maybe a little, depending on how well you have prepared. A single Pickled Pumpkin sells for gp, more than twice what a basic pumpkin would sell for. Kegs triple the value of fruits by fermenting them into Wine - although it takes 7 days. Winter seeds can also be obtained in lower numbers by crafting from a few foraged items, or by using a Seedmaker on Winter Roots. As you are not sinking large chunks of time and energy into watering crops, winter is an excellent opportunity to collect resources from off your farm. Upgrade your axe and take it into the forests to cut down lots of trees; a thousand wood is not too much.

You start the game on your farm that is in the west left of the Bus Stop that brought you here. The Pelican Town is in the east right of the Bus Stop. Your farm consists of everywhere you can go to without a screen change. You have gold, 15 parsnips, and whichever farm map you chose. For your first game the Standard Map is a good choice; if you chose another map you may need to think about where your water and your open land are before choosing where to plant your seeds. It doesn't matter at all to the story how many years those take. But some things can only be done certain days or seasons each year. This walkthrough follows the story, alerts you to those things, and helps you know what items to save or spend. Legendary crop alert: The legendary crop in Stardew Valley is Ancient Fruit, and you can't buy seeds for it. You must snowball from a single Ancient Seed artifact or any additional ones you happen to find into Ancient Seeds with an "s" , then to Ancient Fruit, more seeds, and more fruit and beyond.

Treetime

Players by this time of their first year should be able to purchase at least one basic coop in their Stardew Valley playthrough 4, gold, wood, and stone or one basic barn 6, gold, wood, and stone , and players should focus funds on stocking this with animals throughout the fall. I recommend keeping at least one of each type of fish you happen to catch. For players looking for some variety in their chicken coops, try befriending Shane, Marnie's nephew. Once you have this done, I suggest cutting down a few trees until you have 50 wood. When you go into the mines, I would recommend clearing your inventory first, bringing only your pickaxe. See the Mining article. Stardrops are crucial items for players of Stardew Valley because they permanently increase a player's energy pool by 34 points. The next thing I didn't mention was the cave on your farm. The only things that have any impact on the game at all are some 'Favorite Thing' choices "Concerned Ape" and "Stardew" both change the message you get when you find a Stardrop, but that's just an aesthetic change. Also, if you've managed to get anyone to 10 hearts a purple star will display where the flashing colored dot used to be near their portrait when talking to them , you should know that you will no longer suffer decay with those friends, so you can pretty much ignore them completely from that point on until you get married, anyway. I recommend that at some point before Winter 28, that you buy between 2 and 4 of these.

Stardew Valley is an open-ended RPG and farming sim where you can have the freedom to play however you like and engage in various activities like farming, mining, fishing, etc. Important Note: This comprehensive guide was written and published before the release of Stardew Valley 1. The update changes game mechanics and introduces new content that may render this article outdated.

The reason is that you want to spend the bulk of your funds on Blueberry Seeds, and Speed-Gro, if you can afford it. During the first year, however, the plant is only available for sale at the Egg Festival on the 13th day of spring. Get ready to spend gp on Strawberry at the Egg Festival on Spring Not logged in Talk Contributions Create account Log in. For players twiddling their thumbs and waiting for spring to come, there's a few different things to do after tending to animals - one of the most useful being the mines. Then water them. I recommend keeping at least one of each type of fish you happen to catch. Second, if you followed my advice, you should be harvesting your 20 Speed-Gro boosted Strawberries! As soon as you reach Fishing level 2, buy a Fiberglass Rod and start using Bait to speed up your fishing income. Use the tips at the Fishing article to level up your character's skill. Instead of betting the full 1, Star Points, just bet If not, seriously consider restarting your game. Because of that, when planning on how to approach the CC Bundles, it is always wise to assume you won't see any of that stuff on the Pig Merchant. This can be especially useful for beginner players who have used up most of their energy.
