In the previous two tip sections, we talked about the who "Character Development" and the What "Facilities and Outposts". Now, it's time for the "Where" i. When starting your campaign, you get to choose from one of five maps or just let the AI decide for you via random selection. One of these maps, Trumbull Valley, is a hybrid map that has a fixed story built in along with the usually randomized campaign quests. Because of this, and because the Trumbull Valley questlines come "later" in the SoD2 timeline than Heartland does, I would recommend avoiding this map until you've played the game somewhat and played through Heartland at least once. For completeness, however, I'll include it in the list below.
State of decay 2 map
Undead Labs' State of Decay 2 mostly sticks to the same formula as its predecessor, delivering an open-world survival game with a heavy focus on scavenging and resource management. While there are some quests to play through, the story takes a back seat to exploration, base building, and crafting a safe haven to stave off the wandering zombies. This makes State of Decay 2 maps very important. Players take charge of randomly generated characters with their own traits , strengths, and weaknesses; in fact, while the zombies are nothing to scoff at, fostering a sustainable community of survivors is often the game's greatest challenge. For the most part, the sequel plays like a slightly more polished version of 's State of Decay, but you are given the pick of multiple maps rather than just one. Including the tutorial and the DLC packages, State of Decay 2 has six separate maps that are just waiting to be traversed. Each area has its own positives and negatives, but which one is the best? Updated on July 20, , by Sharnelle Earle: June of included a content update by Undead Labs that features a new way for the blood plague to operate and new outposts. The blood plague is now more menacing, where any building with a plague heart in it will corrupt the entire neighborhood it's in instead of just the building. This means more blood plague zombies in large communities. What this also now means is that any outpost in the vicinity of a plague heart cannot be claimed until the plague heart is taken care of. New types of outposts have also been added, known as Landmark outposts.
Possibly the worst located base on any map in this game, Drucker County or otherwise.
Helas I'm new to the game and don't know which map to play, so I would like to know from you what your favorite map is? My favourite maps are cascade hills and drucker county. They both got awesome large base with great option of customization cascade with the container fort and drucker with baricaded mall and loot hub locations. If you're new i would suggest you try providence ridge first as it was intended as go to map after tutorial. The best place is right where you start. Explore the immediate area around your base to loot everything. Any map is fine to start.

Providence Ridge -- This is the first of the two DLC maps released after the initial game launch, and on this map you can really tell that Undead Labs learned from the maps it had released beforehand. The land itself forms a square - you start at the northeast corner of the map, will move to the northwest corner by mid-game, and will move southeast or southwest by end-game, making for very convenient, logical progression. While there are only five potential home bases in total on this map including the starter base , every base is both viable game-wise and visually distinct. Navigable, well designed, and with actual positive options to choose from and let's face it, actual options are what make the game fun , Providence Ridge is my favourite map in State of Decay 2.

So you want to build the best home base in State of Decay 2? Sure you do! The best incentive for building up a home base is making it so that your community is as sufficient as possible. Yes, you'll want facilities where you can craft and upgrade better items, but ultimately you'll want to make it so that you don't have to worry too much about constantly bringing back resources. Use the guide below to learn a little bit about what the seven bases on each map in State of Decay 2 has to offer. When you first start State of Decay 2 you're asked to choose one of three locations for your base at the end of the tutorial: The Foothills, Plateau, or Valley.

As well, the Ptark is situated right on the Trumbull Valley ring road, making map traversal that much easier. And for a early-game base, it is leagues better than Checkpoint Delta, so while I usually don't recommend moving into early-game bases, this is one of the exceptions. This makes looting the area extremely easy, as you can simply run back and forth between the Corner Office and all the stores in the area, with a car and thus gas cans not required. Stuck in the northwest corner of the map, its distance from the map centre a common theme in Cascade Hills for the late-game bases is a bit mitigated by the base' closeness to lots of loot-able buildings and the lack of any other bases anywhere close to that area. They are all worth playing. This is also partially due to the sequel downplaying the presence of a narrative to promote a less structured campaign that emphasis surviving indefinitely. How do i possibly sneak up on bloater to get sample does not work for me? Its drawbacks are the lack of small slots only three , though this is mitigated by the build-ins, especially the free Infirmary. If you need them, there's also a power station literally right next door directly to the north , and a water one behind the large warehouse just to the southwest. This time, we don't follow that progression, and start at the very mid-west part of the map, halfway between the two SoD "end" areas. I find it has a ton of easy materials. Move into Camp Kelenque and squash that need permanently. Plan on moving out at your first opportunity. Because of this, and because the Trumbull Valley questlines come "later" in the SoD2 timeline than Heartland does, I would recommend avoiding this map until you've played the game somewhat and played through Heartland at least once.
There are a multitude of different bases available in the State of Decay 2.
For the most part, the sequel plays like a slightly more polished version of 's State of Decay, but you are given the pick of multiple maps rather than just one. Outside of these items, you get one large and one small slot to build on, which winds up making the base very, very restricting Infirmary, Farm and done, sadly. The rocks and boulders everywhere mean you'll have to stick to the roads, and thus more time wasted and more gas eaten while driving. This makes looting the area extremely easy, as you can simply run back and forth between the Corner Office and all the stores in the area, with a car and thus gas cans not required. Speaking of which, the build-ins you get are a Kitchen what is this game's obsession with free Kitchens? Meagher Valley has the nicest bases, visuals and Landmark Outpost in my opinion. Yep this person knows where it's at. When starting your campaign, you get to choose from one of five maps or just let the AI decide for you via random selection. In the previous two tip sections, we talked about the who "Character Development" and the What "Facilities and Outposts". So far Drucker seems pretty decent.
