Stewart Gilligan " Stewie " Griffin [1] is a fictional character from the animated television series Family Guy. He is voiced by the series creator Seth MacFarlane and first appeared on television, along with the rest of the Griffin family , in the episode " Death Has a Shadow " on January 31, Stewie is a highly precocious toddler who talks and acts as an adult. He began the series as a megalomaniacal sociopath , initially obsessed with violence, matricide , and world domination. He is the third child of Peter and Lois Griffin , the youngest brother of Meg , and the younger brother of Chris. He is the older half-brother of Bertram Griffin. Throughout the series, particularly following the two episode arc " Stewie Kills Lois " and " Lois Kills Stewie ", the violent aspects of Stewie's personality were toned down, and he has evolved into an eccentric, friendlier, and flamboyant scamp something possibly foreshadowed in the direct-to-video film Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story. He has also come to have a very close friendship with the family's anthropomorphic dog, Brian , whom he originally used to antagonize in the earliest episodes. Stewie is considered to be the show's breakout character and has received numerous award nominations from writers such as Jodiss Pierre. Stewie Griffin is portrayed as a one-year-old prodigy who has a sophisticated voice and can speak very fluently in an upper-class British accent with quite-advanced vocabulary. As Stewie's first birthday was celebrated in the episode "Chitty Chitty Death Bang", it is safe to assume that it was Stewie's second first birthday in the episode "Chap Stewie". Very highly literate and able to cite pop culture references that long predate his birth, Stewie is also entranced by Raffi and Teletubbies. Stewie succumbs to other childish tendencies; he believes Peter has truly disappeared in a game of peekaboo , often has difficulties understanding the concept of shapes , talks to his teddy bear Rupert as if he were alive, is overcome with laughter when Lois blows on his stomach; [4] and has no idea how to use a toilet.
In " Extra Large Medium ", Chris has a lot of dialog with Stewie that make it plain that he is able to understand him. Several commentators have noticed similarities between Stewie and the title character of the graphic novel Jimmy Corrigan, stewie griffin family guy, the Smartest Kid on Earth first published inincluding its author, Chris Ware. In " Dead Dog Walking ", Peter mentions to understanding pieces of Stewie's speech after hearing his secret of kissing Chris.
Stewie, equipped with his teddy bear, Rupert and his laser gun, has on several occasions almost single handedly taken over the world and he seemed to be obsessed with world domination and matricide. He has remained physically one year old since " Chitty Chitty Death Bang ", up until " Life of Brian 2: Revival Reversal ", where he celebrated his second birthday, an episode that aired a mere 15 years later. Throughout his trials and tribulations on the show, Stewie has gone through arguably the most character development and derailment. Stewie became less murderous and vile in later seasons at the same time he became more openly bisexual. He has also become oblivious to sex and everything about it, despite him having full knowledge of the concept in earlier seasons of the show.
The best Brian and Stewie episodes in Family Guy history remain some of the best for the animated series overall thanks to their strong relationship. While characters like Peter, Quagmire, Meg, and even Lois to an extent, are good for rapid-fire jokes, Brian and Stewie have a deeper connection and often bring the heart to the series that otherwise would just be an afterthought. Through Family Guy's run, Brian and Stewie seem to have grown even closer throughout the years, and while they weren't the original partners in crime, they are easily the best duo on the show now. Peter would do and say ridiculous things as a less family-friendly version of Homer Simpson and Brian would react to his antics as the dry, deadpan voice of reason. However, as the show went on, the writers found that there was even more comedic potential in pairing Brian with diabolical baby Stewie. The most popular Brian and Stewie episodes are "Road To They parody the Road To In the episode, Brian agrees to go pick up Stewie from his grandparents' summer home, but after getting drunk and losing their plane tickets, they take a road trip back home.
