Plot — Grandfather Michael Kingley Rush recounts the story of his childhood as a young boy Little storm boy madeline his young granddaughter Madeline Daviesa childhood spent growing up on a remote island with his widowed father Tom Courtney and best friend and Pelican Mr.

Multi-talented Jai Courtney has starred in many international feature films, making his international debut as Charlie in the action film Jack Reacher. He is currently appearing on stage in Melbourne Australia, starring in Shakespeare's Macbeth. Courtney has been cast as Hideaway Tom, a protective father who removes himself and his son from society and chooses to live on the remote coastline of the Coorong. Finn Little is an year-old Australian actor born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland. An award winning actor across theatre, film and TV, he is also a didgeridoo player, guitarist, singer and storyteller. Starring in over 30 theatre productions, in Trevor won the Sydney Theatre Awards best actor going for his acclaimed production Napartji Napartji - a personal, multilingual, family story that he conceived and developed with Scott Rankin and Alex Kelly. He was also nominated in for Namatjira , which Trevor also performed at Southbank, London in Most recently he was seen on stage in The Season , as part of the Sydney Festival. Directed by Julie Bertuccelli, the film premiered on closing night of the Cannes Film Festival and earned Morgana rave reviews. The following year, Morgana appeared in The Hunter, an adaption of the award winning novel by Julia Leigh. Erik Thomson is one of Australia's most respected actors across film, television and theatre. He will next be seen in the third season of the highly popular series Words for Network Seven. Erik was awarded the Silver Logie in for his performance as 'George Turner' in Word and in for his performance as 'Dr Mitch Stevens' in the television drama series All Saints.

One day, Michael discovers a nest of newborn pelicans whose parents have been killed by hunters, so he vows to save them. But Michael cares for them and goes to extremes to keep them safe. Little by little they grow, and a special bond develops between Michael and Mr Percival, who seems to sense that he owes his life to Michael. Michael trains the birds to fly, teaches them to fish, and ultimately sets them free. Despite his freedom, Mr Percival returns, and he and Michael become inseparable and devoted friends. When Mr Percival suddenly becomes a local hero, a series of events are set in motion and Michael finds himself leaving his father, his home and his heart behind. Many years later Michael returns to the remains of the shack as the well-to-do Mr Kingsley Geoffrey Rush.

Though these have parallels within the s storyline anyway. I loved the scene where Tom and Bill sit on the beach watching Michael in a plastic snorkelling mask, trying to show the birds how to catch fish amid the shoreline waves. That sense of magic, or a greater power, forces its way into the present day too. As the older Michael prepares for the meeting, a storm raging outside, a huge window suddenly shatters.
