The Palm Tree is a type of tree in Stranded Deep. It can be found on every island in abundance. Palm trees are exotic trees which are used for gathering wood logs , palm fronds and coconuts. These trees can be cut down with crude axes , refined axes , refined knives , stone tools , refined picks and machetes , but the crude and refined axes are the best option for this job. The amount of hits to cut down a palm tree depends on your tool and harvesting level, the most viable being a refined axe coupled with a harvesting level of 7. When cut down, the player will need to divide the palm tree into logs - depending on the height of the tree - and 1 palm top. The logs can be further hit to produce 4 sticks , or be brought to the plank station to craft plank scrap. The palm top can also be further hit to divide it into 5 palm fronds or be used as a decoration. Coconuts can be found near the very top of the palm tree and can be picked by the player. If the player cannot reach the coconut, the player can climb the tree to collect them.

It is also possible to shoot arrows or throw spears at the coconuts, stranded deep palm fronds, which will make them fall down. Palm trees will never regrow nor produce any more coconuts after they've been collected from the tree, nor can they ever be be replanted.

Palm fronds can be obtained by cutting down a palm , which is at the top of a palm tree. Like other resources and items, such as wood sticks and rocks , the number of available palm fronds on an island is finite, meaning the player can completely exhaust their supply if they craft too many items; at this point, the player will then need to traverse neighboring islands in order to find additional resources. Palm fronds, along with wood sticks and fibrous leaves , can be used as fuel for campfires. They can be placed into a campfire regardless of whether it is burning or not. Palm fronds are also used in a water still to produce drinkable water. While holding the frond, the player will need to look at the base of the still and hold the use button default E to add it.
