They also said they're replacing it with the same part and that I likely won't have the problem again because they haven't "seen very many problems like this".

There is a fair chance your Subaru CVT will last well beyond 60, miles as long as you stick to the factory-recommended maintenance schedule and take care not to overfill your transmission fluid. I will never own another Subaru. I would say most Forester owners would never encounter this kind of terrain but many will because Subaru is marketing these to specifically these kinds of owners. Several customers have mentioned that their vehicles came to jarring stops or stall during driving and won't restart. That being said Subaru CVTs do not have the rubber-band feel I get in Nissans but they do require some getting used to. Wish they would still make the manual transmission. But in years when people are buying these to make into battlewagons they can take out into the woods and beat up, these CVT models will definitely be avoided. The Toyota Camry is a medium sedan with a high-value, modest pricetag. If you want a performance machine that makes you feel like the boss, seal the deal with a 3 Series. They're used to feeling downshifts and upshifts, they're used to a predictable climb up the tach in RPM until the next gear would be chosen and so on. In what universe is that moral and ethical?
