The Swifts defence was suffocating forcing the Thunderbirds to pass back and forth rather than taking an easy route to goal. However, the Thunderbirds remained calm and collected to work their way through it. Shamera Sterling was the first to make her mark on the match battling Romelda-Aiken George for the ball and drawing the offensive contact to put the Thunderbirds ahead.
