Let's start this review of "Blackout" 20x18svu blackout latest gripping episode of Law and Order: SVU, with a short public service announcement. Due to a prior commitment your regular reviewer, svu blackout, Shirleena Cunningham was unable to review this episode and asked for someone to pinch hit for her. That would be me, DJRiter. When offered the opportunity I grabbed it to revisit a show I've been a fan of for a very long time.

Soon Chief Dodds appears with a friend but everyone recognizes as Rob Miller one of the famed lawyers in the city. The next day, a woman is found on a stoop behaving groggy. Police are brought in, before Fin and Rollins appear on the scene. The officers informed the detectives that while the woman was barely coherent, she was insistent that she wanted SVU to help her and that's why they were called. The detectives identify the woman as Nikki Staines who does not recall what happen but says she thinks she was raped. Rollins meets with Benson and she reveals that she's going out on a date with Rob Miller.

Olivia Benson : My son, Dodds.

Another bogus episode. Where is the crime? Miller has consensual drunken sex with the lawyer and she dropped her phone in his car. Certainly not enough to lock him up without bail. This show is ridiculous. When the Law and Order Series started, they seemed to have good technical oversight over legal matters and I actually learned a few things and episodes were grounded within a degree of reality. In the past 10 years plus, reality was thrown out SVU's window for ridiculous story-lines.

Cops have a lot of power, and citizens don't always have the resources to fight the bad ones.
