The river in the park serves as a great food source for the eagles. The resident bald eagle pair are named Victoria and Nicholas. They have nested in this location for over 16 years in the same tree. Hurricane Irma, unfortunately, toppled the tree the nest was in. The eagles immediately began to rebuild in a tree right beside the one that fell. Fast forward to Friday, December 21, , when an unnamed storm, unexpected and unseasonable, blew through the area with pounding rain and ferocious winds. The nest was blown to the ground in pieces again. The very next day Victoria and Nicholas began to rebuild!
