Gen 7 is finally upon us and Tapu Koko leads the way! Unfortunately its stats are somewhat lackluster compared to existing Electric-type attackers, making this Pokemon more suitable as a Dex filler. It has less competition in this role compared to being an Electric attacker. However, as the move is an Elite move, it may not be readily available without using an Elite Charged TM. In the main series, Tapu Koko is capable of learning Fairy Wind. Thunder is slightly stronger for slightly more energy, but adding further energy costs is undesirable.

Each deity has its own shrine or ruins dedicated to it on their own corresponding island. Island kahunas are each chosen by their island's guardian deity and are known to serve and fight along side them if necessary. Their primary Abilities each create the terrain corresponding to their primary type, with the exception of Tapu Fini's Misty Surge , which terrain corresponds to its secondary type. The guardian deities can all pull their shells together and hide their bodies inside, creating an impression of a stylized animal. In its closed shell state, Tapu Koko resembles a rooster, Tapu Lele resembles a butterfly, Tapu Bulu resembles a bull, and Tapu Fini resembles a swordfish.
Tapu Fini has a black body shaped similarly to a mermaid or fish. It has light blue eyes, white eyelids, and a light blue, fin-like marking around the outer corner of each eye. It has a white T-shaped marking on its forehead and a small, white V-shape on its chest. Around its shoulders are segmented purple rings and its long thin arms have webbed hands with three fingers. Each finger is tipped with a purple claw. On the front of its lower body is a light blue, fin-like projection with three spikes.

One must win against Tapu Koko as a 5-star raid boss to secure a chance of a Shiny Tapu Koko encounter. But it takes accurate meta-knowledge and proper counter-selection to go against such a powerhouse with boosted powers as a raid boss. But winning against it is highly challenging; the monster has immense power, which increases even more as a 5-star raid boss. One must team up with other players to have a fair chance of defeating the Tapu Koko raid; avoid solo attempts. This maximum CP increases notably as a 5-star raid boss, making Tapu Koko a fearful existence. One must note that even if some may get a Shiny Tapu Koko encounter, others might not. Players must win multiple Tapu Koko raids and spawn numerous Standard variants to match its Shiny odds.
