Effective 1 July Section 56A of the Vehicle and Traffic Tasmania police road closures today provides that the Commissioner of Police may, by notice published in a local newspaper, authorise the closure or restriction of the use of a public street by traffic of any class, where he considers it necessary to facilitate the holding of a public event. Written applications must be directed to the Commander of the nearest District police headquarters.
