The idea behind this rather roundabout routing was to tag onto a Singapore Suites flight departing from Frankfurt right afterwards. In This Post. After arriving in economy class from Singapore, there were long lines at the transit security checkpoint at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. We had just 15 minutes to spend at the Thai Airways Royal Sillk Lounge at Concourse E, so we quickly dipped in to enjoy a quick drink before boarding our flight to Frankfurt. This was my first time flying long-haul with Thai Airways in business class, although I had flown the airline once before on a regional short-haul flight. I was familiar with the cabin from last time around, but it was nice to see the distinct purple cabin once again. There are a total of 42 business class seats arranged in a staggered configuration. The cabin is divided into a main business class cabin of 24 seats and a mini-cabin of 18 seats. As is commonplace on many of these staggered seating arrangements, the window seats alternate between being closer to the window and closer to the aisle. Odd-numbered seats are closest to the windows and have some additional distance and privacy between the seat and aisle. These window seats are certainly best suited for solo travellers. Meanwhile, the window seats in even-numbered rows are right up against the aisle, reducing the amount of privacy. Odd-numbered rows will have more distance in between, thanks to the surface space of each seat in the middle. Despite the availability of couple-friendly middle seats, on this flight my partner Jessy and I both found ourselves in window seats — Seats 19A and 21A. There is potentially an advantage to choosing the bulkhead seats in both the main cabin and the mini-cabin.

I continued to sip my anchan as I observed a beautiful sunrise over Europe, which reminded me of many of the flights I had taken pre-pandemic. The seats were very comfortable and roomy.

Thai Airways is known for having a wide variety of aircraft types and configurations on its fleet and sometimes you are not sure what type of seat layout you are going to get. I have flown Thai Airways ER long-haul once before and short haul several times. This particular flight was the best Thai Airways experience ever mainly because of amazing catering!! Service started soon after I boarded with warm towels and a refreshing drink pomegranate juice. After dinner I laid out the seat in bed mode and went to sleep soon after. The mattress was firm and had a great night sleep. The bedding was also quite comfortable. The most memorable thing from this flight was the food. The crabmeat and smoked salmon for appetizers were delicious. I have flown the Thai Business Class long-haul before on another flight but this business class seating looked a little bit different.

Since we try to work reviews into every leg of a trip, my options were incredibly limited. I settled on Thai Airways' ER for the long-haul segment from Southeast Asia to Europe, in the airline's comfortable staggered business. I've flown Thai first class on several occasions, on both the Airbus A and Boeing , so I was curious to see what the experience would be like in biz. This is actually United's most expensive saver business-class award, and the pricing doesn't make a whole lot of sense if you ask me. For example, if I had tacked on a flight from, say, Fiji, the rate would have dropped to 75, miles, even though I'd be flying a few thousand more miles.

I might fly this aircraft again due to all the conveient functionalities. Next time I hope I can try the new Thai Airways cabin instead, which at the time of writing this, is only available on their London, Osaka, and Tokyo routes. There was no turndown service on this flight, so I went ahead and placed my bed in lie-flat mode and prepared to sleep for the majority of the journey. Just ask. And although I appreciated the explanation, I still think Thai Airways is a little behind the times with reintroducing full service in business class. Seat 31 E is an Economy Class Bulkhead seat. This is really a good seat. I could actually sit back and stretch out my legs. Seat 31 J is an Economy Class Bulkhead seat. There is extra space to the left of the bulkhead, which means that you can stretch out your legs there. Seat 54 K is a standard Economy Class seat however, the proximity to the galleys may be bothersome. This was followed by an amuse bouche , consisting of fish cakes with Thai chili sauce, which was really delicious! This was a problem with the seats in front being fully reclined, as the foot rest was constantly rubbing against my upper shin near the knee. As soon as I took a bit of the curry, I was pleasantly surprised by its taste, but also found it very spicy. Overhead locker in this area is for crew use only.

Audio onDemand is available at every seat with music albums and 31 different games.

I wish I had tried some, since I started to get a bit hungry towards the end of the flight, but I instead opted to wait for breakfast which unfortunately was delayed a bit due to some turbulence. I would rank this seat as very good. The footwell of the seat is relatively deep, and not as pointy as some other business class seat types out there, providing a reasonable amount of legroom and only a slight restriction on your movement due to the slight curvature of the seat. Seat is slightly narrower due to IFE in arm rest, and slightly awkward to eat and watch TV at the same time, but amazing legroom. Seat 72 B is a standard Economy Class seat in the last row of the plane. Seat 61 E is a standard Economy Class seat that has extra legroom however, the proximity to the galleys may be bothersome. On the other hand, since this was a bassinet seat, the storage space beside the seat was huge, which was nice. Shared power ports are available between Economy seats. You have to store your cabin luggage in another locker. Like many of the other passengers, I simply wanted to get some rest, so I declined and got ready for bed. I continued to sip my anchan as I observed a beautiful sunrise over Europe, which reminded me of many of the flights I had taken pre-pandemic. Seat had same recline as others with curtains behind, only had attendant traffic passing, side of cater wall gave privacy but appears closer than those with opposite seats, with two larger people in adjacent seats about mm overlap into my seat quite frankly seats too narrow for long haul comfort. Seat 41 E is a standard Economy Class seat that has extra legroom however, the proximity to the lavatories may be bothersome. Seat 19 A is a standard Royal Silk Business Class seat that has slightly extra legroom and space due to the missing seat in front.
