When refurbishing the venue a group of workmen believed they all heard a terrifying scream. A few hours later, one of the workmen received a phone call informing him that a family member had passed away. Formerly the Nicol Edwards pub and nestled next to dive-club superstar The Hive, this sprawling subterranean vault has had a grizzly and gruesome makeover as The Banshee Labyrinth. It is made up of seven rooms, three bars, two jukeboxes, an underground dancefloor and a huge helping of of scintillatingly sinister alt-music. Take the right path through the catacombs and you might be lucky enough to end up in the Labyrinth's very own free! And, If your appetite hasn't quite been spooked out of you, perhaps you can sample a hotdog or some popcorn from the selection of movie grub they've got on offer. With its particularly reasonable room hire pricing, local bands and clubs can get involved without the woes of petrifying price tag, meaning there's usually something quirky going on any week of the year.

Within its subterranean maze are seven rooms, three bars, a live music venue, and even a free cinema where you can usually expect to see something by Tim Burton or Edgar Wright. After being bricked up for a century, the vaults were rediscovered in the s and, since then, have become notorious for the ghosts which still wander its black tunnels. Those who have seen him up claim say that, beneath the brim of his hat, he has no facial features whatsoever. When the pub now known as The Banshee Labyrinth was renovating one of the vaults for storage space, a workman described seeing a woman in a long, old fashioned grey dress. He received no reply, and the woman merely continued to cry, before removing her hands to reveal a pale, gaunt face with cracked, rotten teeth. It was then that she shrieked; an awful bloodcurdling howl which caused the workman to blackout in terror.
