The Hutts are an alien species in the Star Wars franchise. They are rotund, voracious and grotesque-looking slug-like creatures with a predisposition to being leaders in organized crime. The most famous Hutt and the first to be depicted was Jabba the Hutt in the films Return of the Jedi , the Special Edition release of A New Hope in a formerly- deleted scene modified and re-inserted into the film , and The Phantom Menace. Jabba and numerous other Hutts appear in various works of the Star Wars expanded universe , which greatly elaborates on their history, culture and role in galactic society. She is explained as having lost them while betting on a podrace with junk dealer Watto , [3] and reappeared in The Clone Wars episode " Hunt for Ziro ".

Crime is rampant in the galaxy, from spice running to slavery, and the Hutts are at the heart of it all. If you've consumed even just the Star Wars movies, you're familiar with the Hutts. They seem to have a lot of power and influence, but how much do you actually know about them? We're here to clear a few things up for you. The Hutts are not a family, gang, or clan, but a species! Their homeworld is the swampy planet Nal Hutta though they actually originated on a nearby world called Varl. If you were under the impression the Hutts were a family, that might be thanks to a group called the Hutt Clan , which is also known as the Hutt Families or the Hutt Cartel.
