Upcountry Favorite: Thompson Road The one thing about living on an island like Maui: there are only so many places to go. Every road and every path eventually leads to a beach, a rain forest, or on top of a mountain like Haleakala. One of my favorite places on the island to take a leisurely weekend stroll is on Thompson Road. Grandmas is famous for their savory pastries and overall lovely upcountry Maui ambience. Bordered by endless cattle pastures and historic lava rock walls, Thompson Road offers epic views that stretch from the Makena Shoreline all the way to the summit of the Haleakala crater.

It is one of our favorite places to go for a walk. Many say Thompson Road is like going back to old Hawaii. This is one of the reasons why are walks are always Peaceful and Serene.
