We offer students a comprehensive curriculum that exposes them to a variety of Health Informatics topics where they can explore different specializations and skills that are required in the job market. Health informatics is a very dynamic field. Although our program has been around a long time, our curriculum is up-to-date and reflects the ever-changing field and industry trends. Our curriculum is CAHIIM accredited and gives students the knowledge they need to work successfully in the field of health informatics. Choosing a quality health information management program that is CAHIIM accredited provides students with the required knowledge and skill, employment and marketability, as well as academic eligibility for applicable professional certifications, to ensure they can succeed professionally. The curriculum focuses on social informatics at the population level. Students develop knowledge and skills in: Data collection, storage, extraction, manipulation, network architecture, data analysis and visualization, predictive analytics, healthcare project management, human factors in computer design, ethics, patient experience and healthcare communications. Students in the program often have clinical, business, or computer science backgrounds. Courses will develop competencies in application of theory and models of consumer health literacy and patient engagement, health technology evaluation and use of mobile health and digital technologies. You can earn a field concentration along with your degree by using your 12 hours of required electives to complete concentration requirements without additional time to degree completion.
