This seems so needlessly convoluted for an X. I can't say I like it. Depends if they add onto it as the expansion goes on this wouldn't be the first time we've seen an item get upgraded as the expansion goes however it'd be weird since they said we wouldn't be getting borrowed power. There was a blue post saying that it will likely be getting replaced come next season, covered by Wowhead here. This seems to be part of a catchup mechanic using some more unique itemization.

Maybe RNG shouldn't be the main source of what will be obviously a very lucrative profession item. Like how rng wasn't the source of lariat recipe which was bis for most specs the whole season?
