Masterwork, Ed. Vic turns his attention to the semi-nomadic Tukudeka or Sheep Eater Indians who lived high in the Yellowstone and northern Rocky Mountains. This sculpture will be available in a two part series. The first sculpture features two Big Horn sheep being chased down the side of a cliff by a mountain lion. On the flip side of the mountain cliff, Vic has sculpted petroglyphs indigenous to this mysterious Eastern Shoshone tribe. Vic continues the story with the second sculpture that will feature a Sheep Eater Indian and his dog who are also hunting these Big Horn Sheep. Vic will have the brave holding his Big Horn sheep bow traversing up the mountain when he's suddenly confronted by the scene above.

Noted western sculptor and artist, Vic Payne has been sculpting for over 35 years. He was born in to sculptor Ken and Priscilla Payne. A sculptor of various sizes, including monumental bronzes, Vic's mission is to lead the viewer through an emotional journey telling a story with his art. Whether he is creating wildlife, Native American or Western sculpture his passion is to capture the spirit of the West evoking the pioneering, independent, mystical spirit of the land and its people. Studying and drawing inspiration from Master teachers such as Bruno Luccesi, Lincoln Fox, Fritz White and the impressive artistic works of European Master Michelangelo has had a significant impact in his work.

With the lure of "Gold," many men were enticed by the tales of California's riches and traveled West leaving their families behind. But thousands of determined women chose to join their husbands, firm in their resolve to keep their families together. From - , around , settlers traveled Westward on the Oregon Trail which often took 4 - 6 months to complete. It has been estimated that upward of 65, settlers lost their lives due to illness, drowning, child birth and various accidents on this perilous journey. One can only imagine that it was not easy leaving the comforts and security of civilization and extended families behind. Yet the pioneer woman crossed vast prairies, scorching deserts and mountains bringing civilization to the Wild West with them, along with schools, churches, hospitals and libraries. These women were as equal in importance in our nation's history, as the more famed male characters and legends of the American West. Vic pays tribute to the bravery, contributions and sacrifices of the often overlooked, pioneer woman.
