They were transformed by void ethereals but rescued by Alleria Windrunner , who had gained mastery of the Void herself on Argus and taught them how to control their dark powers. Permanently transformed by the process, they pledged their loyalty to the Alliance and to her as their new leader. The void elves seek to utilize their great but dangerous powers for the sake of defending Azeroth as weapons of the Alliance, [6] and to prove those who doubt or judge their abilities wrong, all the while resisting the Void's call to madness. In fact, Magister Umbric and his followers never felt loyalty to the Horde , but only to the kingdom of Quel'Thalas and its people.

Seems like a simple question. What are void elves doing in the rift? Do they stand around looking serious? Does the rift only exit to stormwind or maybe it can link multiple places? But this is all filling in gaps with headcannon. What are they doing? There is no lore for it, but I sorta like to imagine when the void elves open a Void Rift they are briefly in stepping through Telogrus rather than into the raw void itself.

The chosen language of void elves is Thalassian , just like their non-void corrupted kin, but they are also able to speak Common. They also possess customizations that look akin to the traditional depiction of high elves.
