After spending a night at Cocklebiddy, the servo attendant told me about Twilight Cove, a great fishing spot 40km down the back of Cocklebiddy. Outback is based on the true story of what the couple went through, how they found themselves in that predicament and what they had to try and survive. But I felt that it was clear that Kelly and Green were aware of this and made sure that they used whatever was at their disposal to its total effect.

I respect Green's decision to keep it accurate, but it should've been a short film, or at best a 1 hour long TV film - considering the lack of available substance that needed lots of filler to reach its runtime. Novice director and writer Mike Green makes his full length feature film debut with Outback, his resume having preceded only a handful of short films - of which this one probably should've been. The lack of basic common sense in this adventure was flat out amusing.
