It is quite a commitment to read these books, with thousands of pages to read and many characters to keep track of, with it taking me almost a year to complete the entire series. This was time well spent, in my opinion, because The Wheel of Time is now among my favourite novel series of all time. Therefore, I decided to rank all of the books from the weakest to the best. When I read it a second time, I appreciated all the subtle plot developments even more, but the sheer brilliance of other works in the series compelled me to push it down further in my mental and admittedly incredibly geeky ranking. Fires of Heaven is a great Wheel of Time book and does a wonderful job of pushing certain protagonists like Rand and Mat even further into their character arcs.

These scenes would have been interesting and intriguing to read before we read about Rand cleansing Saidin near Shadar Logoth, not after. The cleansing, and the scenes in Far Madding, wheel of time books ranked, were pretty good. Having watched the first three episodes of the show, I have some answers to that latter question. I know there are those who are using this point as a way to damn the show with faint praise, but I do not mean it that way: the show is beautiful to look at, and I appreciate that. The scenery, cinematography, music, set design, costumes and special effects are, so far, spectacular. Some criticize CGI, arguing it takes the magic out of bringing fantastical elements to life on screen, but I am not one of them: Give me all the lovely post-apocalyptic landscapes and actually convincing monsters. The designs of the Trollocs and the so far singular Fade are especially effective—and scary. And, yes, they definitely share some elements.

It's already been confirmed that The Wheel of Time season 3 will serve as the show's interpretation of the events that took place in The Shadow Rising. The fourth entry in Jordan's series, The Shadow Rising is remembered as the book that took Rand al'Thor into the Aiel Waste, the homeland of his mother and a place that will be key to his fight against the forces of the Dark One. From the looks of things, Rand will follow in the footsteps of his book counterpart and follow the Aiel into the deserts of The Wheel of Time's world. But while much of what's expected to come is from the books, season 3 is already in position to take some liberties. In the books, crossing paths with the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn is instrumental to his entire arc, as they're responsible for unlocking his memories of his past lives. Having the knowledge of countless military leaders from The Wheel of Time's ancient history is the driving force of Mat's biggest contributions to the narrative.

Crossroads of Twilight Although I did find myself quite confused about what exactly was going on with the ending at first. It could have been more, and there are some consistency issues which we can discuss elsewhere , it still dragged me in and on to the end. Like The Path of Daggers , there is too much focus on minor storylines and not enough emphasis on more important events. The stakes begin to rise in this book, as the Dark One's touch on the world grows stronger, allowing him to affect the weather and create an avatar in the form of Shaidar Haran. After finishing it, I could see why that is the case, even though it is not my personal favourite, since I like the two above it more. Honestly, he was a bit too naive and winey in the first two books and while as a boy reading this book the first time I missed Rand, during every subsequent re-read I find this novel a much needed break from him and a great opportunity for the character development of other protagonists. The novel begins with Rand finally being told by Moiraine, Suian and Verin that he is the Dragon Reborn, something he is understandably unwilling to accept. They just have such great chemistry and it leads to a lot of funny moments. Lots of good things happen, especially with Mat and intro of Cadsuane, but Sammael is only dead because Mr. Welcome back. He hardly has any time to grapple with this however because the Horn of Valere is then stolen by Padan Fain who is quite the scary antagonist here. TGS 9. Towers of Midnight: Rand in the apple orchard and the Tower of Ghenji are both favorites. Plus, Rand cleanses Source. The tension in Gathering Storm is palpable as the stakes build toward Tarmon Gai'don , and Sanderson relentlessly moves the plot forward.
