The 15th annual White Rock Home Tour will feature a combination of mid-century modern homes and new modern homes that will delight and inspire you. In , on a hillside facing White Rock Lake, architect Donald Speck created an iconic and enduring residence for the Topper family. Framed by broad single-story ranch-style homes, Speck inventively carved away the hillside and continued the upper band of windows down the exterior wall to provide a hidden, daylight filled lower level for the bedrooms for the large family. This mid-century modern home was designed and built by its original owners, an engineer and his wife who graduated from UT Southwestern Medical School and was in her Neurology Fellowship at Baylor Medical Center. The current owners have had the privilege of meeting one of the original owners and members of the family who lived in the home from the s through The White Rock Home Tour was introduced in by Hexter parents inspired to share their wonderful Ju-Nel homes to raise funds for their neighborhood school.

Important information to help you plan your tour experience. All sales are final and no refunds will be provided. All ticket money is donated directly to Hexter Elementary School. Children 12 and under are free and do not need tickets. Children under 18 must always be accompanied by an adult. Please keep a very watchful eye on your children inside the tour homes. No pets are allowed on the White Rock Home Tour. This is a self-guided home tour. You may visit the homes in any order. Park safely, then walk to the home and you will be greeted by volunteers who will take your ticket and welcome you into the home. Docents are situated throughout the homes to share information about the architecture, interior design, etc. Thank you tour patrons for helping us have a smooth event this year!

They lived on a street of homes that featured low, horizontal flat roofs with open spaces rather than lots of small, dark rooms. The designers, Lyle Rowley and Jack Wilson, appreciated nature, so their work featured quite a bit of glass, allowing abundant natural light. One day, her business partner called, said she was in the White Rock neighborhood and had seen a house up for sale by owner that had great potential.
