Welcome to Wikiversity! Wikiversity is for learning. It is a place where you'll find free learning materials and learning projects. Everyone can participate. There is no cost, no advertising, and no credentials are required. No degrees are awarded — just learning. Everyone can create and revise teaching materials. Anyone can participate in the learning activities. Everyone can take a course. Everyone can teach a course. There are no entrance requirements and no fees. All content in Wikiversity is written collaboratively, using wiki software, and everyone is welcome to take part through using, adding and discussing content. Feel free to dive in, and create or amend any page you think warrants improvement!

Wikiversity is a Wikimedia Foundation project [2] [3] that supports learning communities, their learning materials, and resulting activities. It differs from Wikipedia in that it offers tutorials and other materials for the fostering of learning, rather than an encyclopedia. It is available in many languages. One element of Wikiversity is a set of WikiJournals which publish peer-reviewed articles in a stable, indexed , and citable format comparable with academic journals. These can be copied to Wikipedia, and are sometimes based on Wikipedia articles. The Wikiversity e-learning model is centered on active learners who participate in learning projects. An Online Course can be many different things to different people. This page will try and list the different learning materials that are sometimes mistakenly considered to be online courses, as well as give examples for different types of courses - particularly with regards to Wikiversity.
