Wled flickering

Now that I have resolved my ground issue, the light effect modes appear to be working as expected. However I am noticing that certain modes, wled flickering, there are random flickering of the lights.

I have a weird problem I can't figure out. Because of the huge power consumption I installed two power supplies. One is 5v 30a, the other 5v 40a. Ground IS connected between both. Plus is NOT connected. Data comes from an ESP

But at some iterations I have some blinking leds that are rather white, not blue or yellow , and I do not know from where it can come. Can you please tell me if it can come from bad order from the controller ESC32 , bad communication, or if it is a problem with the fading function that computes and send strange values? I just see no reason for that Have you tried some of the example sketches that were installed with the FastLED library? Do they work as expected? I can see a problem with your sketch, but I do not think it can explain all the problems you described. If you use e. So in Wokwi using at least one Led less or more than the ring provides works well also with the ESP Be aware that Wokwi may be closely but not perfectly simulating the real electrical situation. So it is possible that things work in the simulation that won't in the real world. However, I found it always very close to the real thing and also useful to check program structures before upload to a physical board.

Used LED as the signal booster with the main strips. Riggaa commented Jan 5,

The rest seem fine. There are a total of ws pixels, 12v. If I run an effect, the pixel colors seem fine, but create a flicker almost like a subtle strobe. Anyone know what the issue might be? It seems that only the first chunk 90ish or so pixels have the problem, then the rest are all fine after that. This would largely depend on your power injection. For example, if your ground wire running to the first strip was compromised, but your power injections were not, it could cause erratic behavior from the beginning of the string to nearby the first injection point.

Nothing helped. At last i changed the fps to 10 instead of And the flickering was gone! I increased the fps up to 40 fps where i have no flickering. The flickering starts with 41 fps. Thats why i wanted to share this experience. Maybe it helps someone.

Using 18 gauge wire for the runs. Solid colors are better but still some flickers. Lowering the brightness helps a lot too but still see some flicker. Any effects are the worst though rapidly changing ones are the worst. No more flickering. Connect it and it flickers. So I think I can rule out the power supply 2 but still has me wondering what to do with the data wire. Thank you for the detailed report! I am quite sure that the signal the sacrificial LED is receiving is not high enought to reliably detect it.

Can you ELI5? If the brightness slider in the UI is already at maximum, try checking the auto brightness limiter in the LED settings. So it is possible that things work in the simulation that won't in the real world. But that could be due to being on the other end of the line. This sounds like other problem. WLED is licensed under the MIT license, thus you are free to use it in any way you wish as long as you retain the copyright notice and accept that I am not to be held liable for anything regarding your use of the software. If it still flickers it might be something else. You signed in with another tab or window. I checked with the multimeter and cant find any connection. Try disabling "Emulate Alexa device" in Sync settings before entering your home Wifi credentials. Aircoookie mentioned this issue Oct 12, I am running realtime e.

Have a question about this project?

Will give that a try if I can find a similar capacitor. There are three brightness slider types in the web UI. Even ordered brand new 12v LEDs. Clearly, when you then reduce intensity, less current flows. Place Nodemcus closer to the strips. Try injecting 5v power at the end or middle of the strip with some appropriate cabling. If I set the brightness the glitches don't appear, all other glitches are with full brigthness. As written I'm not connecting them in parallel, ground IS connected, 5v is separated between both supplies. I have a mix of 5v and 12v pixels. They have different Data lines, but same power supply.
