The World's Strongest Man is an international strongman competition held every year. The current event sponsor is SBD Apparel. The competition has been won by 24 men representing 13 nationalities, worlds strongest man.
Defending champion Tom Stoltman placed second, and Oleksii Novikov placed third. Ragg and Schoonwinkel went on to make the final in their first WSM competition, with Ragg becoming the first New Zealander to qualify for the final since , before the introduction of the groups. Felix would be eliminated in the group stage, and Shaw went on to make the final in his last WSM. Rauno Heinla returned to WSM for the first time since , ultimately taking 3rd place in his group. Two-time runner-up Mateusz Kieliszkowski made a much anticipated return to WSM for the first time since , but disappointingly went out in the group stage for the first time in his career. The 30 athletes were divided into 5 groups of 6 athletes, with 2 athletes from each group progressing to the final of The winner of each group progressed to the final, and 2nd and 3rd in each group would then advance to a 'Stone Off', from which the winner would also progress.

Its main rival is the Arnold Strongman Classic. There are now several documentaries available that chart the history of WSM. David Webster , a Scot who later received an OBE for his services to sport, was the head coordinator of the competition from its inception. Douglas Edmunds , seven-time Scottish shot and discus champion and twice world caber champion, [11] worked with Webster and when Webster retired, Edmunds took over. These two men were responsible for inviting the competitors and choosing the events. In , the WSM was not held for the only time since its inception.
